DRESSCODE: Du musst nicht im Kostüm kommen. Pulli und bequeme Hose ist genauso fine wie overly fancy Outfit.
KOSTÜME: Die Suche nach einem Halloween-Kostüm kann schwierig sein. Manche Menschen lassen sich im Stress nach der Kostüm-Suche von der Kultur anderer Menschen inspirieren und denken, es wäre lustig, sich z.B. eine Nacht lang „orientalisch“ zu verkleiden. Die Kultur oder ethnische Zugehörigkeit einer Person ist jedoch kein Trend, kein Witz und sollte kein Kostüm sein.
KULTURELLE ANEIGNUNG: Das Aneignen von Widerstandssymbolen (so wie Dreadlocks und gedehnte Ohren) und kulturell bedeutungsvollen Praktiken (wie Bindis und indischer Piercingschmuck) durch weiße Menschen hat eine rassistische Wirkung unabhängig von der Intention.
Schwarze Personen und BIPOC werden systematisch diskriminiert und müssen sich oft durch z.B. das Glätten der Haare bzw. das Weglassen von wiederständigen oder kulturellen Symbolen anpassen um bessere Chancen zu haben. Beachte das bei deinem Party-Outfit/ Kostüm und verstecke angeeignete Widerstandssymbole an dir.
NACKTHEIT: In der unteren Etage ist es voll fine Oberkörperfrei und besonders sexy unterwegs zu sein – aber: Check deine Privilegien – wenn du auch im Alltag Oberkörperfrei unterwegs sein kannst ohne dafür sexualisiert zu werden, zieh dir vielleicht lieber was drüber. Die obere Etage ist dafür da, sich in Ruhe zurückziehen und plaudern zu können. Falls Dein Outfit viel Haut zeigt, nimm was zum drüberziehen mit (auch um dich nicht zu verkühlen).
INSPIRATION: Wenn ich keine Idee hab was ich anziehen soll, ist es manchmal gut zu sammeln was wir richtig gruselig finden. Hast du mal überlegt dich als Antifa Macker zu verkleiden? Ein Klassiker sind auch kleine cute Tiere – und wenn das gruselig werden soll einfach als Zombie Tiere. Was immer geht: jegliche Form von Hexer*innen oder Vamps. Im Zweifel, was würde Faschos richtig nerven?
DRESSCODE: You don’t have to come in costume. Sweater and comfortable pants is just as fine as overly fancy outfit.
COSTUME: Finding a Halloween costume can be difficult. Some people, in the stress of looking for a costume, get inspired by other people’s culture and think it would be fun to dress up „oriental“ for a night, for example. However, a person’s culture or ethnicity is not a trend, not a joke, and should not be a costume.
CULTURAL APPEARANCE: The appropriation of symbols of resistance (such as dreadlocks and stretched ears) and culturally meaningful practices (such as bindis and Indian piercing jewelry) by white people has a racist impact regardless of intent.
Black people and BIPOC are systematically discriminated against and often have to conform by, for example, straightening their hair or omitting recurring or cultural symbols in order to have a better chance. Keep this in mind with your party outfit/costume and hide appropriated symbols of resistance on you.
NUDITY: On the lower floor it’s fully fine to be shirtless and especially sexy – but: check your privileges – if you can be shirtless in everyday life without being sexualized for it, you might want to put something on. The upper floor is there to be able to withdraw and chat in peace. If your outfit shows a lot of skin, take something to wear over it (also to avoid getting chilled).
INSPIRATION: When I have no idea what to wear, sometimes it’s good to collect what we find really scary. Have you ever thought about dressing up as a sexist lefty? A classic is also little cute animals – and if you want to be scary just as zombie animals. What always works: any form of witch or vamp. When in doubt, what would really annoy fascists?
